Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re new to having photographs taken or a veteran in front of the camera, each photoshoot comes with its own challenges and questions to consider beforehand. I’ve compiled a list of my clients’ most frequently asked questions and provided my best answers below. I hope that reading through this FAQ empowers you to feel more prepared and confident for your shoot. My goal is always to make things as seamless as possible for you, so if you have additional questions that aren’t covered here, feel free to reach out!

But what do we wear?!

Check my Amazon store! There are tons of ideas and inspiration available to you once you book with me.

I always suggest starting with mom and working around her outfit.

Choose a color palette - I'm a big fan of neutrals and earth tones! They are timeless. A pop of color can definitely work if that’s your style, too.

Don’t be afraid to accessorize -- think jewelry, hats, necklaces, bows, etc. -- and don't forget the diaper cover or biker shorts!

Avoid wearing logos, baggy clothes, or dresses or skirts that are really short -- keep in mind that we're going to be moving a lot! Also avoid large patterns, especially florals!

Last but not least, remember to take your cell phones and keys out of your pocket!

How do I prep the kids?

I recommend saying something like this: “My friend Ms. Elizabeth is going to come hang out with us in the park, our home, etc. We are going to play some games with her and she is just here to take photos so we remember all the fun we’re having!”

How do I prep dad?

Let him know he just needs to relax and have fun with the kiddos. There’s no pressure to do anything except show off your awesome dad skills!

HOW DO I PREP MYSELF (MOM)?

Try and pamper yourself if you can. Get your hair or makeup done. Maybe schedule your nail or hair color appointment around the time of your photos. This is the perfect time to spoil yourself a bit so that you can feel your absolute best for your family and your shoot.

Things to remember on your session day:

If it's a family photoshoot, remember that your kids are taking the lead. We want to embrace their energy and goofiness and let them steal the show! It might seem a little chaotic to you, but just roll with it and let me work the camera magic. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Think about moments over poses. You don't always have to look at the camera.

Embrace all the moments of loving on your kiddos and having a blast with them.

Bring snacks that are easy for your kids to eat! We definitely don’t want hangry kiddos during the shoot.

What If there's bad weather on our session day?

Don’t stress -- I will always, always, always reschedule for weather if I feel it will impact your photos or experience in a negative way!
